FAQS for Job Seekers

Getting Started

Initial interviews are conducted by our recruitment team at our head office in Melbourne’s western suburbs or online. Depending on the role and client, some positions (especially in kitchens) may require a practical assessment. Reference checks are completed before any offer is made.

Most roles at Ardent People are casual, offering excellent flexibility. However, part-time and full-time positions do become available, depending on client needs.

General requirements across all roles include:

Current Police Check

Food Handling or Food Safety Supervisor Certificate (for hospitality/aged care roles)

Working With Children Check (if required by client)

NDIS Worker Screening Check (for health/disability support roles)

We’re happy to help guide you through obtaining any necessary documentation.

Roles-Specific Requirements

You’ll need a Certificate III in Individual Support (Aged Care or Disability) and ideally 6+ months of experience.

Diploma of Nursing (HLT54121) for Enrolled Nurses (ENs)

Bachelor of Nursing for Registered Nurses (RNs)

All nurses must have current AHPRA registration and additional training including:

CPR (HLTAID009)

Provide First Aid (HLTAID011)

Manual handling, infection prevention, elder abuse, falls prevention, and other mandatory modules.

Shifts & Scheduling

We use Deputy, a rostering app that allows you to update your availability and receive shift offers. Once you accept a shift (usually offered by phone), it’s added to your schedule in Deputy.

Yes! Our system is built to support flexibility. You set your availability and we offer shifts that suit your lifestyle.

We offer a wide range of shifts across mornings, afternoons, evenings, and weekends in:

Hospitality (hotels, events, restaurants)

Aged care facilities

Hospitals and clinics

It depends on your availability, location, and mode of transport. In most cases, we can offer more shifts than team members require.

Uniforms, Pay & Timesheets

Uniforms vary by client. At a minimum:

Hospitality staff: black pants and black enclosed shoes

Kitchen staff: must provide their own role-appropriate attire

Clinical staff: requirements will be outlined during onboarding

We use the Deputy app to clock in and out—no paper timesheets required. If you miss a clock-in, just contact us and we’ll update it for you.

Hospitality & Aged Care: Weekly pay

Payments are made directly into your nominated bank account.

Pay rates are determined by your role and site, typically under:

Hospitality Industry (General) Award (HIGA)

Aged Care Award

Health Professionals and Support Services Award (HPSSA)

Social, Community, Home Care and Disability Services Industry Award (SCHADS Award)

Casual staff also receive a 25% casual loading.

Yes. If you'd like the same staff member for continuity, we’ll do our best to match availability and accommodate your preferences.

We’ll immediately work to provide a suitable replacement from our active pool of staff and keep you informed of all updates.
